About Maria

When it comes to female media personalities, Maria Garcia is as real as you can get. A born extrovert, scoring laughs comes easily to this native New Yorker, but her disarming honesty and approachable nature is what captivates listeners and always keeps them coming back for more.
Most recently, Maria joined the on-air team at New York’s FOX-5 TV where as a freelancer, she delivers hilarious “City Rant” segments to viewers; discussing the humorous side of life in the Big Apple. Prior to her on-camera work, Maria was featured on-air at Long Island’s WALK-FM and is currently searching for her next media challenge.
Maria is very proud to have completed 8 years hosting the “Steve and Maria” Morning Show on Long Island’s 106.1 WBLI-FM, where she shined as the first “Latina” to dominate Long Island’s airwaves. Maria has received a number of awards, including two prestigious Gracie Allen Awards for Most Entertaining
Comedy Program, and was recognized by the New York State Broadcasters Association, which named her Outstanding Broadcasting Personality in 2002.
Maria has also had the opportunity to deliver newscasts to millions of commuters at New York’s legendary all-news staple 1010 WINS, but began her broadcasting career in Miami, landing her first job in 1994 as weekend anchor and staff reporter at WINZ 940AM.
Maria is also author of the humorous book "101 Ways to Torture Your Husband," (Adams Media, Jan 2010).
When she’s not busy reading celebrity tabloids or visiting museums, Maria enjoys spending quality time with her family in Manhattan.
